I cannot make the hare appear in the scenery upon which I observe

to complete the picturesque landscape for my own aesthetic expectations and needs

it will appear only when I do not expect it

when I do not see it at first

and then notice it in a fleeting stance

a couple of long, brown ears raised above the high grass

sitting among the purple heather

or sprinting across the moor in a auburn flash of fur

only then is the scenery complete
